Salone 2014 Milan – Bergamo

This year for the Salone Fair the Cimmermann Team chose to stay in the medieval town of Bergamo.

Choosing to stay in the upper city (Città Alta), surrounded by its Venetian walls that were built in the 17th Century and forms the historic centre of Bergamo. Città Alta is a great place to visit. Its cobbled Italian streets mixed with its designer boutiques – it has something for everyone.
We chose to stay at the Gombit hotel a designer hotel based right in the centre of the old town. Next to the Torre del Gombito, a thirteenth century stone tower,  the hotel is an experimental laboratory and gallery where young artists work together to keep the interiors fresh and alive.

We visited the beautiful San Vigilio with its castle , only way to get there is by a really cool funicular. While we were there we visited an amazing restaurant Ristorante Baretto, local food a plenty – the sausage and black bean pasta was exceptional.

The old squares and piazzas in Bergamo are quintessentially Italian and offer numerous eateries, landmarks to see and places to quench your thirst!

We would highly recommend a trip to Bergamo, a beautiful and unspoilt gem in Northern Italy, perfect for relaxing before the main Milan Salone show.

Look out for our next Blog Post – Salone 2014 the Fair where we review our favourites and show you some of the amazing new products that were shown.
