Last year we supplied the furniture and lights for the now Michelin starred restaurant – Man Behind The Curtain. Here is a great interview with the chef Michael O’Hare talking about his amazing food and what inspires him. You can see the beautiful furniture from Gubi including the Masculo Chair and the iconic Grasshopper Light.
Highlights from the world's best Furniture Fair
After many miles walked, many espresso’s drunk here are our highlights from Salone 2015 –
As always the Vitra stand was superb with a theme around their packaging almost like a warehouse, hence the many crates. New sizes (height increased by 2″) and colours on the DSW & DSR chairs due to people on average being larger since they were designed in the 1950’s.
There was a new upholstered version of the Prouve Standard chair, adding ultra comfort to an already superb chair.
The iconic Vitra Polder sofa has been re-sized and re-jigged with new brass buttons and fabric choices.
The SCP show was titled – ‘The Arrangement of Furniture in a Room’ and took place in central Milan. This was a cool show that had a collection of old Vintage furniture mixed with SCP’s new designs, a great mix and our favourite show.
It’s always good to see the stunning Balzac Chair, love the Tan Russet leather which only improves with age.
Another classic on show was the Agnes Shelving unit, a firm favourite here at Cimmermann.
The new Chouchin reverse lights made a good impression, the main light is finished in blown glass and the bottom of the diffuser is in the vivid colour.
Tom Dixon went all out this year, hiring an old warehouse in downtown Milan and turning it into – ‘The Cinema‘. As usual he didn’t disappoint with a stunning collection of new lights. A particular favourite was the Melt light, which looks totally different when turned on, it appears to become see through.
The Italian Masters of Plastic didn’t disappoint again. An amazing collection of new and old products with a twist. The Neon Boookworm was really cool and the new Mat finish Fly lights were stand-out pieces for us.
Salone Milan 2015 didn’t disappoint, always an amazing show with plenty to see and be inspired by. Hope you enjoyed the round-up of our favourites, here’s looking forward to next year.

A more mainstream show but worth a visit, its held in the iconic Earls Court. This year Philippe Starck is officially opening the show, being such a character he’s always worth seeing. Vitra are also exhibiting there this year and always come up with amazing stand displays.
When you’ve had enough of the shows why not try out our recommendations for some refreshments, retail therapy and culture –
Polpo is a bàcaro. This is a Venetian word to describe a humble restaurant serving simple food and good, young local wines. Some amazing Venetian food at reasonable prices.
For some great British grub check out Canteen. Based at Royal Festival Hall or Spitalfields it serves some cracking gastro pub style grub – very nice pies!!!
London Design Museum
London Design Museum located near Tower Bridge is always worth a visit. The recent Paul Smith exhibition was a real highlight for us.
Need some new clothes for the trip, check out YMC based at 23 Hanbury Street in East London. Their clothes are always unique and their shop(s) are pretty cool too!
Not only does Margaret Howell sell some amazing clothes her shop in Wigmore Street is a design haven of vintage furniture and other items for the home.

A good way to introduce a piece of tactile marble into your home is with a light or a table. We choose some of our favourites –
Arco Light is a design classic from Achille Castiglioni. We don’t need to say much about this icon of lighting design. One thing to remember is you won’t be able to move the base on your own – 60 kgs of the finest Italian marble.
e15 Enoki Tables combine modern colours with the timeless quality of marble so fluidly. Cleverly toying with material, colour and dimensions, these versatile tables are available in combinations of rich marble and coloured steel.
With the shuffle Table Mia Hamborg gives new life to the old Nordic craft tradition of turning wood by adding the colour and playful forms from old painted wooden toys. This new black marble version is stunning and adds an element of sophistication.
A design classic from Achille Castiglioni. The base is made from the finest Italian marble and the shade from enamelled glass.
Simple form made with luxurious materials, the Plate Table offers a lesson in simplicity. Quite in keeping with Jasper Morrison’s philosophy of “super normal” design, the Plate Coffee Tables have a classic shape and finely balanced proportions.
We love marble here at Cimmermann, the feel of it, the look of it and the fact each piece is unique – add some marble to your interior you won’t regret it.
